Lars Mikkelsen-3-1024x657Lars Dittmann Mikkelsen, born 6 May 1964 is a Danish actor. He has appeared as Troels Hartmann (Copenhagen mayoral candidate) in The Killing and [1] Charles Augustus Magnussen (third series of Sherlock), the Russian president Viktor Petrov on Netflix's American House of Cards, and Grand Admiral Thrawn from Star Wars Rebels. He was presented with the Reumert Prize of Honour in 2011. When he was 27, he entered the National Theatre School of Denmark. He graduated from the school in 1995. In addition to his performance in The Killing, [1] the actor also appeared in Borgen III, a Danish drama which was highly acclaimed. He also had a prominent role in an episode of BBC drama Sherlock as blackmailer Charles Augustus Magnussen.In the American TV series House of Cards, he was the president of Russia. In 2018, he received an International Emmy Award for his role as the main character of the Danish TV drama Herrensveje. The show aired in the UK as Ride Upon the Storm in 2019.
